Consider a 2-level memory system in strict hierarchy(serial), where the access time of level-1 & level-2 memories are 10ns & 20ns. What is the average access time in ns, if the level-1 Hit ratio is 90% ?

i think the answer should be=0.9*10 + 0.1*(10+20+10) = 9+4 = 13

correct me if wrong

wrong because in case of strict hierarchy

Tavg = h1*T1+(1-h1)*(T1+T2)

none of the above option is correct. I think it  should be .9*10+.1*20=11ns because no information about memery interfacing.

if both level is serial i mean one after other then

->ans is 0.9 * 10 + 0.1 * (10+20) =12

if both level can work parallel then ans is 0.9*10 + 0.1 *10 = 10
